Jack Plummer (born October 21, 1999) is an American professionalfootballquarterback for theCarolina Panthers of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football atPurdue,California, andLouisville.

Early life

Plummer was born on October 21, 1999, inDubuque, Iowa. He played high school football while attendingGilbert High School in Arizona, where he completed 515 of 888 passes for 6,913 yards and 69 touchdowns to 25 interceptions. He also added 572 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground while also bringing in one reception for 13 yards.[2] Plummer was named an honorable mention All-USA Arizona High School Team in the 2017 season.[3] Plummer committed to playcollege football atPurdue University over other schools such asArizona,South Carolina andOregon State.[4][5]

Purdue

Plummer made his first collegiate start at quarterback on September 14, 2019, againstTCU, completing 13 of 19 passes for 181 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in a loss.[6][7] Plummer appeared in seven games on the season, completing 144 out of 241 passes for 1,603 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while also rushing for 62 yards.[8] In 2020, Plummer started in the final three games of the season where he would go 88 out of 124 on his passing attempts for 988 yards and eight touchdowns to two interceptions, while rushing for 16 yards and a touchdown.[8][9] Plummer opened the 2021 season as Purdue's starting quarterback in a week one matchup against Oregon State.[10] However, he was benched four games into the season in favor ofAidan O'Connell.[11] On the season, Plummer completed 87 of 127 passes for 864 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions, while adding 27 rushing yards.[8] He entered the transfer portal in November.[12]

California

Plummer transferred toCalifornia.[13] He was named the starter ahead of their season opener againstUC Davis,[14] completing 23 of 35 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns in a 34–13 win.[15] In the Golden Bears' last game of the season, Plummer had career game throwing for 294 yards and four touchdowns in a narrow loss to the 9–3, #18UCLA Bruins.[16] Plummer finished the 2022 season going 282 for 451 for a career best 3,095 yards and 21 touchdowns, while only throwing eight interceptions. Plummer also added a rushing touchdown.[8] After one season with the Golden Bears, Plummer entered his name in the transfer portal.[17]

Louisville

Plummer transferred toLouisville for his final year of eligibility.[18] Named Louisville's starting quarterback, he led Louisville to a 10–2 record and an appearance in the2023 ACC Championship Game.[19]

Plummer signed as aundrafted free agent with theCarolina Panthers after going undrafted in the2024 NFL draft.[21] He was waived on August 27, and re-signed to the practice squad.[22][23] Plummer was promoted to the active roster on December 28.[24]

Personal life

Plummer is the brother of formerUniversity of Arizona quarterback Will Plummer.[25][26]
