Janardan Shankar Mahashabde was an Indianophthalmologist.[1] He was the founder of Mahashabde Netralaya[2] and the Indore Eye Hospital.[3] He was one of the early members of theIndore Divisional Ophthalmologist Society (IDOS).[4] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of thePadma Shri in 1992.[5] The All India Ophthalmological Society has instituted an award,Mahashabde Award, in memory of the ophthalmologist.[6]
