Iván Palanco Santiago (born 12 January 1980) is aSpanishfootball manager, who is the current assistant manager ofCampeonato Brasileiro Série A clubFlamengo.
Palanco played youth football forCE Mataró as amidfielder before being forced to retire at the age of 17 due to a seriousknee injury.[2] In 2009, he was named technical director ofFC Barcelona's Academy inFukuoka, Japan.[3][4]
On 17 July 2013, Palanco was appointed manager ofThai Premier League sideRatchaburi Mitr Phol FC.[5] He was sacked on 24 December, after three wins in nine matches, and was subsequently replaced by compatriotRicardo Rodríguez.[6]
From 2014 onwards, Palanco started working withMiguel Ángel Lotina, being his assistant atAl-Shahania SC,Tokyo Verdy,[7]Cerezo Osaka,Shimizu S-Pulse,[8]Vissel Kobe.[9] Since 2024 Palanco started working withFilipe Luís as assistant manager atFlamengo U17,Flamengo U20 andFlamengo.
