Inenzymology, anisoflavone 3'-hydroxylase (EC1.14.14.88, FormerlyEC1.14.13.52) is anenzyme thatcatalyzes thechemical reaction

formononetin + NADPH + H+ + O2{\displaystyle \rightleftharpoons } calycosin + NADP+ + H2O

The 4substrates of this enzyme areformononetin,NADPH,H+, andO2, whereas its 3products arecalycosin,NADP+, andH2O.

This enzyme belongs to the family ofoxidoreductases, specifically those acting on paired donors, with O2 as oxidant and incorporation or reduction of oxygen. The oxygen incorporated need not be derived from O2 with NADH or NADPH as one donor, and incorporation of one atom o oxygen into the other donor. Thesystematic name of this enzyme class isformononetin,NADPH:oxygen oxidoreductase (3'-hydroxylating). This enzyme is also calledisoflavone 3'-monooxygenase. This enzyme participates inisoflavonoid biosynthesis. It employs onecofactor,heme.
