Isindus

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Town of ancient Ionia

Isindus orIsindos (Ancient Greek:Ἴσινδος), also known asIsinda (Ἴσινδα) was a town ofancient Ionia, mentioned byStephanus of Byzantium.[1] It may be thatIsinda in Pisidia, which claimed an Ionian origin, was colonised from here.[2] It was a member of theDelian League since it appears in tribute records ofAthens between the years 445/4 and 416/5 BCE.[3] It is possible that it is the same city as theIonda mentionedDiodorus Siculus that was occupied byThimbron in the year 391/90 BCE before his occupation of a mountain nearEphesus.[4]

Its site is unlocated.
