Città di Isernia San Leucio Società Sportiva Dilettantistica, commonly known asCittà di Isernia or justIsernia, is anItalian association football club based in the city ofIsernia,Molise. The club currently plays inEccellenza. Their nickname is "pentri" (this is the name of the most important tribe of the Samnites). They play their home matches atStadio Mario Lancellotta.
Founded in 1928 asSamnium Isernia, the club spent the majority of its history in semi-professional and regional levels ofItalian football. In the seasons1984–85,[2]1985–86[3] and2003–04,[4][5] Isernia played inSerie C2 (currentlyLega Pro Seconda Divisione), the 4th Italian professional football level.
After going bankrupt in 2004, the club was immediately re-founded asA.S.D. Sporting Isernia and in 2007 was merged withA.S.D. Aesernia to formA.S.D. Sporting Aesernia.
In the summer of 2009, the new club that played inPromozione was merged withA.S.D. Real Rocca d'Evandro 2006 ofScapoli, inEccellenza Molise, foundingA.S.D. Real Isernia.
First classified in2010–11Eccellenza Molise,[6] in the summer 2011 the club was renamedIsernia F.C. playing from the 2011–2012 season inSerie D.
Its colours are white and sky blue.
The home ground is theStadio Mario Lancellotta.
