Ipy is an ancientEgyptian goddess of fertility.[1] She is also known asOpet.[2] AtKarnak she is calledIpet, and in the Demotic Magical Papyrus, she is calledApet, the mother of fire.[3][4]

She is depicted as ahippopotamus.[1] She is sometimes depicted as a combination of ahippo, crocodile, human, andlion. Usually she is depicted with a lion's head, hippo's body, human arms, and lion feet.[2]
