Ion Courtenay Gill Trewin (13 July 1943 – 8 April 2015) was a British editor, publisher and author.
Born in London, the son ofJ. C. Trewin andWendy Trewin (née Monk), Ion Trewin was educated atHighgate School.[1] He was the literary editor ofThe Times from 1972 to 1979 and then became an editor withHodder & Stoughton (for whom he publishedThomas Keneally'sSchindler's Ark in 1982) until 1992 andOrion Publishing Group to 2006. He was said to have "an unmatched reputation as a publisher of taste and acumen".[1]
He was director of theMan Booker Prize for a decade and was the biographer of the politicianAlan Clark.[1][2][3][4][5] Trewin also edited the three volumes of Clark's diaries.
