
Ioannis Skandalidis (Greek:Ιωάννης Σκανδαλίδης,romanized: Ioánnis Skandalídis) was aGreek politician before and during theGreek War of Independence.
Skandalidis was bornc. 1775 inThessaloniki.[1] He went as a representative ofMacedonia to theAreopagus of Eastern Continental Greece, a provisional administrative authority established inCentral Greece during the early stages of therevolution, where he used to sign as "Ioannis Skandalidis theMacedonian".[2] He took part at theFirst National Assembly at Epidaurus as a member and secretary, subsequently becoming secretary of the Legislative Corps set up by the assembly. In 1821 he joined theVytina Assembly of the supporters ofAlexandros Mavrokordatos against the rivalZarakova Assembly ofDemetrios Ypsilantis; this division was the herald of theGreek civil wars of 1824–1825.
He died in 1826.[1]
