InAboriginal mythology (specifically:Arrernte), theInapertwa are the simple, ancestral creatures with which theNumakulla modelled all life (plant, animals, birds) onEarth. From these they formed human beings. The "totems"[1] of the Arrernte are named after individual Inapertwa formed into animals, then into humans.
