Inab (Arabic:اناب, also calledNepa) is a village in northernSyria, administratively part of theAfrin District of theAleppo Governorate, located northwest ofAleppo. Nearby localities includeJalbul,Aqiba andDeir Jamal to the south,Karzahayel,Afrin andAin Dara to the west,Qatma to the north andManaq,Kafr Kalbin andKaljibrin to the east. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Inab had a population of 2,309 in the 2004 census.[1]
During theCrusades, in 1149,Nur ad-Din Zangi, achieved a decisive victory against the Crusader army ofRaymond of Antioch, and the allied followers of Ali ibn-Wafa, in theBattle of Inab outside the town.
The town came under the control of theSyrian National Army on March 10, 2018.
On May 9 2022, a fighter of theLevant Front was killed in clashes withKurdish forces on the frontline at the village.[2]
