Imrani

Emrānī (orImrānī; 1454–1536) was aJudæo-Persian poet, being "one of the most prominentJewish poets of Iran".[1][2] Emrānī was inspired by the earlier poetShāhīn to choose "as his field the post-Mosaic era fromJoshua to the period ofDavid andSolomon".[3]

His major work,Fatḥ-Nameh ("The Book of the Conquest," begun in 1474, unfinished), describes in poetry "the events of the biblical books ofJoshua,Ruth, andSamuel".[3] Emrānī's last great work,Ganj-Nameh ("The Book of the Treasures"), is "a free poetic paraphrase of and commentary on themishnaic treatiseAvot".[3]
