TheImamzadeh Haroun-e-Velayat (Persian:هارون ولایت;Arabic:مرقد هارون ولايت), also known as theHarun-i Vilayat Mausoleum, is aShi'iteimamzadeh,mausoleum, andmadrasa complex, located in the city ofEsfahan, in the province ofIsfahan,Iran. It is located opposite theAli minaret inDardasht and was completed in 1513CE, during theIsmail I era, with subsequent renovations during the 19th and 20th centuries.
The complex was added to theIran National Heritage List on 13 December 1934, administered by theCultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran, and is one of theholiest sites in Shi'ism.
There are many accounts of Harun Vilayat, the person who is buried in it. Some say that he isthe seventh Imam's son and others, that he isthe tenth Imam's son, but aside from the matter of who is buried in it, it is the most important historical structure related to the earlySafavid era. Beyond thetomb it has also aportico, atileddome and a largesahn.
Repairs and improvements were carried out in theFath-Ali Shah era.[1]
The mausoleum has become a shrine reputed to have miraculous powers and is also venerated by someArmenian Christians.[2]
