Ilona Prokopevniuk (Ukrainian:Ілона Прокопевнюк) is aUkrainianfreestyle wrestler. She won one of the bronze medals in the62 kg event at the2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia.[1][2] She is a two-time bronze medalist at theEuropean Wrestling Championships.

Career

Prokopevniuk became silver medalist at the inauguralWorld U23 Championships in2017. Next year she achieved her first podium rank at the senior competition becoming third at the2018 European Championships.[3]

In 2020, she won one of the bronze medals in the women's 62 kg event at theIndividual Wrestling World Cup held in Belgrade, Serbia.[4] In June 2021, she won one of the bronze medals in her event at the2021 Poland Open held in Warsaw, Poland.[5][6] In October 2021, she lost her bronze medal match in the62 kg event at theWorld Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway.[7]

In April 2022, she won one of the bronze medals in the62 kg event at theEuropean Wrestling Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.[8] A few months later, she won the silver medal in her event at theMatteo Pellicone Ranking Series 2022 held in Rome, Italy.[9]
