Iddrisu Baba Mohammed (born 22 January 1996) is a Ghanaian professionalfootballer who plays as adefensive midfielder forSegunda División clubAlmería and theGhana national team.

Club career

Born inAccra, Baba moved to Spain at an early age and joinedRCD Mallorca's youth setup in January 2014, fromCD Leganés. He made his senior debut for the former'sreserves on 29 August 2015, coming on as a second-halfsubstitute in a 7–1Tercera División home routing of Penya Ciutadella.

Baba scored his first senior goal on 8 May 2016, netting the opener in a 2–1 home win againstCF Platges de Calvià. On 23 June, afterachieving promotion, he was bought outright by theBermellones.[2]

On 25 August 2017, Baba was loaned toBarakaldo CF inSegunda División B, for one year.[3] Upon returning, he was promoted to the main squad inSegunda División, and made his professional debut on 19 August 2018, replacingCarlos Castro in a 1–0 home win againstCA Osasuna.[4]

On 3 July 2019, after contributing with 28 matches (play-offs included) as his sideachieved promotion toLa Liga, Baba renewed his contract until 2022.[5] He made his debut in the category on 17 August, starting in a 2–1 home win overSD Eibar.

Baba scored his first professional goal on 31 October 2021, netting the opener in a 1–1 away draw againstCádiz CF. On 10 August 2023, he moved to fellow top tier sideUD Almería in aseason-long loan deal, with a buyout clause.[6]

On 4 July 2024, Almería announced the permanent signing of Baba on a three-year contract following their relegation from the top flight.[7]

International career

On 13 November 2019, Baba was called up for theGhana national team to2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches againstSouth Africa andSão Tomé and Príncipe.[8] He made his full international debut in the following day, starting in a 2–0 win over the former.[9] He was part of the Ghanaian team in the2021 African Cup of Nations and sustained an injury in the match againstGabon.[10][11][12]
