Ibn Ashir (1582 – 1631 CE)[1] (AH 990 – 1040 AH )[2] known asImam Ibn Ashir or simplyIbn Ashir was aMoroccanjurist[3] in theMaliki school fromFez,[4] Morocco. HisMurshid al-Mu'een is arguably the best known of the Maliki texts in the Islamic world.[1][5] It is still widely sung and memorised inmadrasas and Quranic schools throughout North Africa to this day.[citation needed]
