Ianthocincla is agenus ofpasserine birds in the familyLeiothrichidae.
The genusIanthocincla was erected by English ornithologist and bird artistJohn Gould in 1835 with thespotted laughingthrush as thetype species.[1][2] The name of the genus combines theAncient Greekionthos "young hair" or "down" with theNeo-Latincinclus "thrush".[3] Thespecies now placed in the genus were previously assigned toGarrulax but following the publication of amolecular phylogenetic study in 2018,Garrulax was split up and some of the species were moved to the resurrected genusIanthocincla.[4][5]
