Ian James Corlett (born August 29, 1962)[1][3] is a Canadian voice actor, animator, and author. He is the creator of the animated seriesBeing Ian andYvon of the Yukon withStudio B Productions, with notable voice roles includingMega Man inRuby-Spears'Mega Man series,Cheetor inBeast Wars: Transformers, and the first English voice of adultGoku in theOcean dub ofDragon Ball Z from 1996 to 1997.

Corlett was born on August 29, 1962, inBurnaby,British Columbia, Canada.[1][2]

Career

Corlett began his career in 1984.[2] Before becoming a voice actor, he programmed drum tracks and helped with computer sequences onQueensrÿche's albumOperation: Mindcrime, also selling the band music gear in the 1980s. Corlett has lent his voice to several animated series produced/dubbed in Canada, with notable voice roles including Bob inReBoot, Charger inNASCAR Racers,Baby Taz inBaby Looney Tunes, and Andy Larkin inWhat's with Andy?. Corlett has also lent his voice toDIC Entertainment shows such asSuper Duper Sumos. He also voiced Mr. Cramp inThe Cramp Twins, Ten Cents, Otis, Zeebee, Zip, Lord Stinker, Frank, Eddie, and the Lighthouse Clock inSalty's Lighthouse, and Ransome the Clown in the video gameThimbleweed Park.

He, along with fellow Canadian voice actorTerry Klassen, owned a production company who helped rewrite international shows.[4] He is also the creator of the animated seriesBeing Ian andYvon of the Yukon.

In anime, Corlett has voicedMaster Roshi inDragon Ball Z andMiroku inYashahime: Princess Half-Demon, replacingKirby Morrow, who was the original English voice actor for Miroku in theInuyasha series until his death on November 18, 2020.

Personal life

Corlett lives inVancouver with his wife, also having a home inPalm Springs, California. They have two children: Philip (b. 1997), andClaire Corlett (b. 1999).[5] They have done voice work for the animated seriesDinosaur Train andMy Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. In addition to his work in Vancouver, he does voice work inLos Angeles,California, in theUnited States.
