iStudio Publisher is apage layout anddesktop publishing (DTP) application developed by iStudio Software.[1]
iStudio Publisher 1.0 was released on 6 January 2009 at theMacworld Conference & Expo inSan Francisco.
The present version, iStudio Publisher 1.5.4, runs onmacOS 11Big Sur, 10.15Catalina, 10.14Mojave, and 10.13High Sierra. iStudio Publisher 1.5.2 is available to run onmacOS 10.12Sierra, andMac OS X 10.11El Capitan, 10.10Yosemite, and 10.9Mavericks. iStudio Publisher 1.4.1 is available to run onMac OS X 10.8Mountain Lion, and 10.7Lion. iStudio Publisher 1.2.1 is available to run onMac OS X 10.6Snow Leopard. iStudio Publisher 1.1.10 is available to run onMac OS X 10.5Leopard, and 10.4Tiger.
iStudio Publisher can be used for thepage layout andword processing ofbrochures,newsletters, booklets,magazines,posters,adverts,reports,essays,greeting cards and many otherdocument types, of any page size, and with the option ofspread editing facing pages.
iStudio Publisher has been designed to simplify desktop publishing and enable users to get started quickly. Users are required to understand one main principle - each element of document content is held by a shape. All shapes act as content containers and can contain any combination of text in columns, text around their outline path, an image, a corner style, a line style, a fill style, adrop shadow and a text runaround ("wraparound"). Users can select and draw standard shapes from the Shape Library, construct shapes using the drawing tools provided, or create default shapes automatically when pasting, dragging in or inserting new content. Inspectors are provided to examine and adjust style and format settings of shapes, text and images.
iStudio Publisher can exportcolor managedPDF files suitable for use in aprepressworkflow for professionalprint jobs. It can also export to bookletPDF,EPUB orRTF file. iStudio Publisher has anXML based file format and supportsUnicode character encoding. Using right-to-left languages, such asArabic,Persian and Hebrew can be achieved by using RTL Fixer (https://www.rtlfixer.com).Arabic,Hebrew,Indic andEast_Asian (CJK)writing systems.
The officialuser guide "Introduction to iStudio Publisher"[2] has been produced using iStudio Publisher and can be downloaded from the developer's website in PDF format.Video tutorials and a Rapid Start Guide are also available.
