Loko, or Landogo, is aSouthwesternMande language spoken by theLoko people, who primarily live inNorthernSierra Leone. There are two knowndialects,Landogo andLogo, which are mutually intelligible. Ethnic Loko outnumber native Loko speakers due to thelinguistic encroachment ofTemne andKrio and urbanization toFreetown, where Loko is internally and externally seen as alow-prestige language.[2]
