ISO 3166-2:CS was the entry forSerbia and Montenegro inISO 3166-2, part of theISO 3166standard published by theInternational Organization for Standardization (ISO), which definescodes for the names of the principalsubdivisions (e.g.,provinces orstates) of allcountries coded inISO 3166-1.
Serbia and Montenegro was officially assigned theISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codeCS before it was dissolved in 2006, and the entry was deleted from ISO 3166-2 as a result. The two republics,Montenegro (Montenegrin:Crna Gora) andSerbia (Serbian:Srbija), became independent and are now officially assigned the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codesME andRS respectively.
Before 2003, the name of the country wasYugoslavia, and it was officially assigned the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codeYU.
Note that while the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codeCS was used to representCzechoslovakia before it was dissolved in 1993, this predated the first publication of ISO 3166–2 in 1998.
