IDG Capital is an investment andasset management firm, headquartered inBeijing, that specializes inventure capital,private equity, andmergers & acquisitions.

The firm, founded in 1992, was an early investor ofBaidu,Tencent,Xiaomi,Meituan, andQihoo 360.[2]

In January 2017, IDG Capital andChina Oceanwide Holdings Group acquiredInternational Data Group (IDG) and its subsidiaries,International Data Corporation (IDC),IDG Communications, andIDG Ventures. IDG Capital became the controlling shareholder of IDG Ventures.[3]

In March 2017, IDG Capital completed the acquisition of a 20 per cent stake in FrenchLigue 1 football clubOlympique Lyonnais for €100m (US$105.38m).[4]

In 2019, Hurun Report has noted, IDG Capital is among the top three investors inChinese unicorns, with 25 current listed portfolio companies now valued at more than US$1 billion.[5]

In May 2021, IDG Capital invested inBambu Lab, a tech company based inShenzhen China that produces desktop3D Printers.[6]

In January 2024, theUnited States Department of Defense named IDG Capital as a Chinese military company operating in the US.[7][8] In December 2024, IDG Capital was removed from the list.[9]
