InGreek mythology, the nameHyperbius (Ancient Greek: ὙπέρβιοςὙpérvios means "of overwhelming strength") may refer to:

• Hyperbius, son ofAres, reputedly the first to have killed an animal.^[1]
• Hyperbius, son ofAegyptus, who married and was killed by theDanaidCelaeno,^[2] or byEupheme.^[3]
• Hyperbius, son ofOenops, a defender ofThebes in the war of theSeven against Thebes, appointed byEteocles to defend the Oncaidian Gate againstHippomedon. He had an image ofZeus on his shield.^[4]
• Hyperbius, anAthenian, brother ofAgrolas orEuryalus. The two brothers were credited with inventing the technique of building with bricks, and with construction of the first brick houses in Athens,^[1] as well as of the wall aroundAcropolis.^[5]
• Hyperbius, aCorinthian credited with invention of thepotter's wheel.^[6]
