Hyathis (also spelledHyanthis) is an extraterrestrialmonarch published byDC Comics. She first appeared inJustice League of America #3 (February 1961) and was created byGardner Fox andMike Sekowsky.[1]
Hyathis is the queen of Alstair, a planet in theAntares solar system. Alstairans are all plant-like humanoids, with some resemblingmold, preferring darkness, and possessing the ability to infect others with mold via their bite.[1]
Hyathis is continuously at war with the three other monarchs of the Antares system:Kanjar Ro, insect-like dictator of Dhor; Kromm, the metal-skinned ruler of Mosteel; and Sayyar, the lizard-like emperor of Llarr. This conflict is temporarily ended when Ro abducts members of theJustice League of America and uses his Gamma Gong to force them to defeat the rulers of Alstair, Mosteel and Llarr, placing Earth in a paralyzed state.[1]

The entire Justice League is able to trick and defeat Kanjar Ro, and all four rulers are marooned on a small planet with a barrier created byGreen Lantern's ring.[2] The four eventually crack the barrier and Ro escapes, leaving the others behind. Hyathis' followers rescue her and take her toThanagar, where she cures the devastating Equalizer plague and manipulates the Thanagarians into becoming a warlike culture.[3][4][5][1]
Hyathis attempts to overthrow the government of Rann by using her telepathy to make the Zaredians battle theDarkstars. The Zaredian attack creates a diversion that allows Hyathis to kidnapAdam Strange's daughter Aleea. Her plans are upset by the arrival ofSuperboy and theRavers.[6]
Hyathis meets withZauriel, agent of thePresence, when the mysticalHelmet of Fate lands on Alstair and is discovered by Okeontis. Okeontis represents a group mind that evolved from sentient mold on Alstair, and uses the Helmet of Fate to infect the populace with the "mold-mind".[7]
Calleen, an ancient Alstarian, was one of the first seven Green Lanterns.[8][9]
Hyathis is a plant elemental who is connected to the Green, giving her an empathic connection with plant life. Additionally, she is a powerful telepath and can breathe underwater.[1][10]
Calleen of the planet Alstair was not only one of the first Green Lanterns but was the first new sentient life to blossom on her home planet, which was seemingly destroyed forever. Over centuries, she grew from a single resilient leaf into the planet based elemental Green Lantern she became and she also has possibly the most obscure connection to the DC Universe. The most famous resident of Alstair is the Justice League and Hawkman villain Hyathis.
Rami's rings found their ways to seven individuals charged with bringing Volthoom to justice and those individuals became the first seven Green Lanterns, each with a tie to DC Universe we know today...Calleen of Alstair, future home world of Justice League villain Hyathis.
[Hyathis] first appeared in Justice League of America Vol 3 as a major antagonist from the planet Alstair. Another character from that planet, Calleen, also had a connection to the Green, being one of the very first plant elementals. However, Hyathis' connection is much stronger...Hyathis has the ability to control plants on her homeworld and is also an advanced telepath.
