Thehuluhu (traditional: 葫蘆胡; simplified: 葫芦胡;pinyin: húlúhú) is a Chinesebowedstring instrument in thehuqin family of instruments.[1][2][3] It has two strings, and its sound box is made from agourd, with a face made of thin wood. It is used primarily by theZhuang people of the southern Chinese province ofGuangxi.[3]
The instrument's name is derived from the Chinese wordshúlú ("gourd") andhú (short forhuqin).
