Hoym (German pronunciation:[hɔʏm]ⓘ) is a town and former municipality in the district ofSalzlandkreis in theGerman state ofSaxony-Anhalt. Since 15 July 2009, it is part of the townSeeland. Hoym is located on the riverSelke, between the townsAschersleben andQuedlinburg. One of the main features of the town is Schloss Hoym, which is used as a home for the mentally handicapped. Hoym is part of theVerwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality")Seeland, districtSalzlandkreis. OlympianBurckhardt Hoppe was born here.[2]
