The 2007 national census reported a total population for this woreda of 74,989, of whom 37,302 were men and 37,687 were women; 3,669 or 4.89% of its population were urban dwellers. The majority of the inhabitants observedEthiopian Orthodox Christianity, with 37.36% reporting that as their religion, while 30.67% wereProtestants, 23.98% observed traditional beliefs, 5.57% wereMoslem, and 1.6% observedRoman Catholicism.[1]
