Hollywood Theater is a historic former movie theater located at 6764Hollywood Boulevard inHollywood, Los Angeles,California.

Hollywood Theater opened on December 20, 1913, the second theater to open inHollywood's emerging theater district. A 700-seatNickelodeon,[1] it was owned byH.L. Lewis and designed in theRomanesque style byKrempel andErkes.[2]
The theater was remodeled byClifford Balch in 1927,[2] damaged byarson in 1933,[3] and remodeled a second time in 1936, this time byS. Charles Lee.[2] In the second remodel, the building's original white brick façade was replaced with anart deco version,[2] and aneon marquee was added, the marquee angled to catch the eye of passing motorists.[1] By 1938, the theater was operated byFox West Coast Theatres as asecond run move-over house for theChinese Theatre.[4] The theater was remodeled a final time in 1977.[2]
In 1984, theHollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District was added to theNational Register of Historic Places, with Hollywood Theater listed as acontributing property in the district. Specifically noted were the theater'sneon signage,stucco facade,terrazzo andbrick materials, and that the theater is the oldest in Hollywood.[5]
The theater was shut down byMann Theatres in 1992,[4] and two years later theGuinness World of Records Museum moved into the building.[6]
In 2024, Hollywood Theatre was one of fourHollywood andHighland buildings proposed for demolition to make way for a metro entrance on theK Line Northern Extension. The other buildings are6806 Hollywood Boulevard,Bank of America Building, andLee Drug.[7]
