Hiroshi Abe (安部 裕史,Abe Hiroshi; born 1958) is a Japaneseamateur astronomer affiliated with the Yatsuka Observatory.[2] He is noted for numerous discoveries, including his 2007 discovery of the Nova Vulpeculae,[3] and 28 numberedminor planets during 1993–1999.[1]

The main-belt asteroid5379 Abehiroshi, discovered byOsamu Muramatsu in 1991 is named in his honor.[4] The official naming citation was published by theMinor Planet Center on 28 July 1999 (M.P.C. 35482).[5]
