InGreek mythology, the nameHippocoön (/hɪˈpɒkoʊˌɒn,-kəˌwɒn/;Ancient Greek:Ἱπποκόων,Hippokóōn) refers to several characters:

• Hippocoon, in one account,^[1] father ofNeleus, who is otherwise called son ofCretheus orPoseidon.
• Hippocoon, aSpartan king, father ofEnarephoros and brother ofTyndareus from whom Hippocoon seized the kingship, then exiled Tyndareus.^[2]
• Hippocoon, the great-grandfather ofAmphiaraus. The lineage is as follows:Zeuxippe, daughter of this Hippocoön, marriedAntiphates and gave birth toOecles andAmphalces; Oecles, in his turn, marriedHypermnestra, daughter ofThespius, and to them were bornIphianeira,Polyboea and Amphiaraus.^[3]
• Hippocoon, aThracian counsellor and a kinsman ofRhesus, who fought atTroy. Awakened byApollo, he is the first to discover the damage caused byOdysseus andDiomedes in the Thracian camp.^[4]
• Hippocoon, in theAeneid, son ofHyrtacus, one of the participants in the archery contest atAnchises's funeral games. His arrow misses, striking the mast to which the target dove is tied.^[5]
