Himanshu Malik, the actor who left a mark in films like Tum Bin (2001) and Khwahish (2003), has now turned a director. His slice-of-life film, Chitrakut (2022) released in cinemas last year. But after premiering on Jio Cinema on May 27, it got a new lease of life. Starring Vibhore Mayank, Aurtira Ghosh, Naina Trivedi, Kiran Srinivas and Shruti Bapna, the film is a refreshing take on love and relationships and makes for a breezy watch. There are times when one anticipates that the film will become dark but it doesn't. And that adds to its appeal.
Afreen Afreen was among the biggest pop hits in the 90s and was written by Javed Akhtar. Nusrat composed the song and Lisa featured in the 10-minute-long video alongside Himanshu Malik.
In 2012, he wrote and directed short film Q.E.D. that did well at film fests. "Then I directed some music videos, ads followed by a feature film. My last assignment as actor was 3 Stories."
Actor Himanshu Malik bravely dives into the treacherous waters of young romance in his feature debut Chitrakut. The JioCinema release revolves around characters in various stages of love.
