Hexoprenaline is a selectiveβ2 adrenergic receptoragonist used in the treatment ofasthma.[2] Hexoprenaline is also used in some countries (such asRussia andSwitzerland) as atocolytic agent (i.e., labor suppressant), with the most common trade name beingGynipral.[3][4] It is not approved by the United StatesFood and Drug Administration.

When used as a tocolytic, hexoprenaline is contraindicated in:

Drug-drug interactions

When concomitantly administered:

Hexoprenaline is contraindicated for use withmonoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs),tricyclic antidepressant (TCAs),ergot alkaloids, anddihydrotachysterol.[3]
