Form of public lodging

Aheuhotel (German for "hay hotel") is a form of publiclodging in which guests pay for sleeping accommodations inbedding made ofhay, typically in shared quarters.[1]

The style of lodging first became popular in theMiddle Ages, and had a resurgence in modern form in Germany in 2009. As of then the typical price was 8euros per night per guest.[1]
