Town of ancient Aeolis

Heraclea orHerakleia (Ancient Greek:Ἡράκλεια), also transliterated asHeracleia, was a town ofancient Aeolis.[1][2] It was opposite toHecatonnesi. This town and the neighbouringCoryphantis are called villages of theMytilenaeans. The town may also have carried the namesElateia,Idale, andItale during Roman times.[3]

Its site is located nearAyvalık,Asiatic Turkey.[3][4]
