Henrich Ravas (born 16 August 1997) is a Slovak professionalfootballer who plays as agoalkeeper forEkstraklasa clubCracovia.[1]
Ravas started his career withMyjava in 2014. In 2015, Ravas signed forNational League North clubBoston United following a successful trial after previously being withPeterborough United on non-contract terms.
On 7 January 2016, Ravas signed forChampionship sideDerby County joining the club'sunder-23 side.[2]
At the start of the 2017–18 season, Ravas moved on loan toNational League North clubGainsborough Trinity. Ravas made 37 league appearances for the club and while Gainsborough were relegated, Ravas won the club's Young Player of the Year Award.[3]
Ravas moved toHartlepool United in October 2020 on a season long loan.[4] At the end of the same month, Ravas made his debut for the club in a 6–0 win againstIlkeston Town in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.[5] Following an injury toBen Killip in April 2021, Ravas became the club's number one goalkeeper. However, he later lost his place in the team to Brad James. Ravas made 13 appearances for Pools in all competitions as the club won promotion toLeague Two, however Ravas failed to make the match day squad for theNational Leagueplay-off final.[6][7]
Ravas was released by Derby at the end of the 2020–21 season.[8]
Ravas signed forFortuna Liga sideFK Senica in July 2021. On 24 July 2021, Ravas made his debut atpod Čebraťom atRužomberok, the match ended in a 0–0 draw.[9] He left Senica in March 2022 after he had not been paid for four months.[10]
On 29 March 2022, he signed a three-month contract with an extension option with PolishI liga clubWidzew Łódź, who at the time had only one other goalkeeper available, afterJakub Wrąbel and Konrad Reszka suffered season-ending injuries.[11] Ravas made his debut for the club againstGKS Tychy on 3 April 2022 in a 2–1 win. In May 2022, shortly after the club won promotion to theEkstraklasa, Ravas signed a contract extension with Widzew Łódź.
On 6 January 2024, the New England Revolution ofMajor League Soccer announced the signing of Ravas on a three-year contract. with a club option for another year. The transfer fee was not disclosed.[12] Ravas made his debut for the Revolution on 21 February 2024, recording two saves and a clean sheet againstCA Independiente de La Chorrera in the2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup.[13] He made his MLS league debut three days later againstDC United, recording two saves in a 3–1 defeat.[14]
After spending seven months overseas, Ravas returned to Poland to sign a four-year deal withEkstraklasa clubCracovia on 14 July 2024.[15]
Ravas was first recognised in aSlovak senior national team nomination byFrancesco Calzona on 8 November 2022, ahead of twofriendly fixtures againstMontenegro andChile. During the nomination, numerous national team newcomers first penetrated the short-listed squad as clubs were not required to release their players and multiple opted to, leaving free spots in the nomination.[16] On both occasions, atPodgorica City Stadium on 17 November versus Montenegro, as well ashome retirement match forMarek Hamšík on 20 November versus Chile, Ravas was an unused substitute.[17][18] Few weeks later, Ravas was also called up for prospective national team players' training camp hosted atNTC Senec in early December along with three younger goalkeepers from theSlovak Fortuna Liga.[19] Ravas was called up for his firstqualifying campaign ahead ofUEFA Euro 2024 in Calzona's nomination of March 2023 ahead of matches againstLuxembourg andBosnia and Herzegovina.[20] He was named in the final 26-man squad for UEFA Euro 2024.[21]
