"Hello Walls" is anAmericancountry music song written byWillie Nelson and first recorded byFaron Young. It was number one onBillboard'scountry chart for nine weeks in1961 and spent 23 weeks on the chart.[1] It peaked at number 12 on thepop chart and was Young's only top-40 pop hit in the United States. Young's recording featuredFloyd "Lightnin’" Chance ondouble bass andThe Wilburn Brothers on background vocals.[2]

"Hello Walls" introduced Nelson to a national audience.[3] In 1996, Nelson recorded a rock version of the song with the bandThe Reverend Horton Heat for the albumTwisted Willie.[4]

The lyrics portray a man's lonely conversation with his walls, window and ceiling after having been jilted by his lover.

  • Ralph Emery had an answer song called "Hello Fool" in 1961, which peaked at number 4 on the Country Charts. That song was Emery's only hit as a singer.
