Hejnum is a populated area, asocken (not to be confused withparish), on the Swedish island ofGotland.[3] It comprises the same area as theadministrative Hejnum District, established on 1 January 2016.[4]
Hejnum is situated in the northern inland of Gotland just south ofLake Tingstäde. Central Hejnum consists of flat farmlands with forest area in the west and east.[5] ThemedievalHejnum Church is situated in the socken.[6] As of 2019[update], Hejnum Church belongs to Väskindeparish in Norra Gotlandspastorat, along with the churches inVäskinde,Fole,Lokrume,Bro andBäl.[7][8]
There are fournature reserves in Hejnum: File hajdar, Hejnum hällar, Kallgatburg and Tiselhagen.[9]
One of the most magnificent medieval gateportals on Gotland, is at the Riddare farm in Hejnum.[10]
