TheAfrican smoky mouse orsmokey heimyscus (Heimyscus fumosus) is a species ofrodent in the familyMuridae. It is theonly species in thegenusHeimyscus.

It is native to Central Africa, where it occurs inCameroon,Central African Republic,Republic of the Congo,Democratic Republic of the Congo,Equatorial Guinea, andGabon. It is a habitat specialist, living only inprimary lowland forest.^[1] It is threatened bydeforestation.^[1]
