Doxercalciferol (or1-hydroxyergocalciferol, trade nameHectorol) is drug forsecondary hyperparathyroidism andmetabolic bone disease.[1] It is a synthetic analog ofergocalciferol (vitamin D2). It suppressesparathyroid synthesis and secretion.[2]

Doxercalciferol is the vitamin D2 analogue ofalfacalcidol.[3] It undergoes 25-hydroxylation in theliver to become the activeercalcitriol, without the involvement of kidneys.[4]
