Hans-Georg Backhaus (born 1929, Remda,Thuringia) is a GermanMarxian economist and philosopher. He is one of the main authors of theNeue Marx-Lektüre and he is considered one of the most important German theorists in the field ofMarxian theory of value.

He began a long-term cooperation withHelmut Reichelt already from his years of university studies.
