Charles Henry Gremminger (September 1, 1933 – November 2, 2001) was an American professionalfootball player who was adefensive back in theNational Football League (NFL). He played for 11 seasons from 1956 to 1965 with theGreen Bay Packers and in 1966 for theLos Angeles Rams.[2] He playedcollege football as anend for theBaylor Bears.

Early life

Born inWindthorst, Texas, Gremminger was raised inWeatherford, Texas and graduated fromWeatherford High School in 1952.[3]

Pro football

Gremminger was selected in the seventh round of the1956 NFL draft by theGreen Bay Packers. Head coachVince Lombardi arrived in1959 and Gremminger was part of threeNFL championship teams in1961,1962, and1965.

In 1966, Gremminger was traded to theDallas Cowboys in June but left during the first week of training camp. He was also with the expansionAtlanta Falcons before being named to the roster of theLos Angeles Rams in late October.[4]

He was named to theGreen Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1976.[5]

Late life and death

Back in Texas, Gremminger was a contractor and later worked in the banking and insurance business and was a county commissioner inParker County.[3]

Gremminger died at age 68 ofcardiac arrest in Weatherford.[3]
