Handeliodendron bodinieri is a rare deciduous tree/shrub native to China and the only species in themonotypic genusHandeliodendron.[1][2]
It grows up to 15 meters tall, and grows in mountain areas characterized by irregular limestone formations inGuangxi andGuizhou. The seeds are rich in oil, making them attractive to wild animals.[2]
It is related toAesculus (horse chestnuts) andBillia, and is classified with in eitherSapindaceae, subfamily Hippocastanoideae,[3] or the familyHippocastanaceae.[1]
