Hamish Pepper (born 13 May 1971) is a New Zealand sailor. He competed at the1996, 2004, 2008 and2012 Summer Olympics.[1]
Pepper was born in Auckland and attendedWestlake Boys High School.[2]
Sailing in aLaser, Pepper finished 10th at the1996 Olympics and 7th in2004.[3] Pepper then moved to theStar and sailed withCarl Williams at the2008 Olympics, finishing 9th. Pepper andJim Turner finished 5th at the2012 Olympics.[4]
Pepper has also competed in multipleStar World Championships, winning the2006 Star World Championships with Carl Williams,[5] finishing second withCraig Monk at the2009 Star World Championships and 7th with Jim Turner in2012.
He was a part ofTeam New Zealand's successful defence of theAmerica's Cup in 2000.[3][6] He was tactician on the team's2003 America's Cup defence, but was removed when the team was down 0–3 to the eventual winners,Alinghi.[7][8]
In 2009, Pepper was part ofBMW Oracle Racing and skippered their boat during theLouis Vuitton Trophy Nice Côte d’Azur regatta.[9] He sailed in the 2010Louis Vuitton Trophy Dubai withTeam Synergy.[10]
