Haligovce (Hungarian:Helivágása,Rusyn:Галіґівцї) is avillage andmunicipality inStará Ľubovňa District in thePrešov Region of northernSlovakia. Former name of the village was "Hedvigina Poruba".
Inhistorical records thevillage was first mentioned in 1338. Before the establishment of independentCzechoslovakia in 1918, Haligovce was part ofSzepes County within theKingdom of Hungary. From 1939 to 1945, it was part of theSlovak Republic. On 25 January 1945, theRed Army dislodged theWehrmacht from Haligovce and it was once again part of Czechoslovakia.
Themunicipality lies at analtitude of 600 m (2,000 ft) and covers anarea of 11.274 km2 (4.353 sq mi). It has apopulation of about 683 people.
