On November 27, 2007 Ohara lost the title to CMLL regularLa Sombra.[8]

Throughout 2008 and 2009, Ohara feuded with his mentor Último Dragón across three continents and multiple promotions includingDradition in Japan, Nu-Wrestling Evotolution (NWE) in Europe and Toryumon in Mexico. In NWE, Ohara wrestled under a mask as Dark Dragon, an evil counterpart to Último Dragon.
