Hailai Arghandiwal (Pashto:هیلی ارغندیوال; born 22 April 1996) is aprofessionalsoccer player[2] who plays as amidfielder. Born in the United States, she represented theAfghanistan national team.

Club career

Arghandiwal agreed a transfer to ItalianSerie A clubFlorentia in December 2018.[3] She became anMSV Duisburg player in 2019.[4]

International career

In 2010, as a 14-year-oldhigh school pupil fromNorthern California, Arghandiwal was selected for theAfghanistan national team at the2010 SAFF Women's Championship in Bangladesh. Her experiences at the tournament inspired her to become a campaigner forwomen's rights in Afghanistan.[5] She was the national teamcaptain at the2012 SAFF Women's Championship in Sri Lanka.[6]

She played in the Oakland Roots'Justice Match on 10 October 2020.[7]
