Habib Faisal is an Indian filmmaker and lyricist. He is best known for directingDo Dooni Chaar (2010) andIshaqzaade (2012).
He made his directorial debut,Do Dooni Chaar, for which he wonFilmfare Award for Best Dialogue.[1] He co-wroteSiddharth Anand'sSalaam Namaste.[2] He also wrote directorShaad Ali'sJhoom Barabar Jhoom starringAbhishek Bachchan andPreity Zinta,[2] andSiddharth Anand'sTa Ra Rum Pum starringSaif Ali Khan andRani Mukherjee.[2] All three areYashraj films. He also wroteBand Baaja Baaraat which was released in late 2010.[3]
Faisal then went on to direct his second film,Ishaqzaade, starring debutantArjun Kapoor, andParineeti Chopra in their first lead film, which released on 11 May 2012.[4] The film received positive response from critics, and managed to do very well at the box office, turning out to be a worldwide hit.[5] He then wroteBewakoofiyaan, which was directed byNupur Asthana and featuredAyushmann Khurrana,Sonam Kapoor, andRishi Kapoor.[6] His next directorial venture wasDaawat-e-Ishq, which had actorsAditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles.[7]Daawat-e-Ishq released worldwide on 19 September 2014.[8][9]
Faisal's fourth film,Qaidi Band was released on 25 August 2017.
An alumnus ofJamia Millia Islamia, he has directed the television serialskareena kareena[10] and worked in New Delhi as a camera person withNDTV.[11]
