Haßfurt (German pronunciation:[ˈhasˌfʊʁt]ⓘ; English: Hassfurt) is a town inBavaria,Germany, capital of theHaßberge district. It is situated on the riverMain, 20 km east ofSchweinfurt and 30 km northwest ofBamberg. In 1852,Ludwig's Western Railway reached the town and between 1892 and 1995, which also had abranch line toHofheim. The 1867 Hassfurt Bridge, thought to be the firstCantilever bridge built, was also there.
