TheHX Draw is abascule bridge carrying theNew Jersey TransitBergen County Line andPascack Valley Line across theHackensack River betweenSecaucus, New Jersey andEast Rutherford. The bridge is also known asThe Jack-Knife because of its unusual method of opening.[1]
Designed byJoseph Strauss and completed in 1911, this bridge is one of the first heeltrunnion bascule bridges built in the United States and originally formed part of theErie Railroad's main line.[1][2]
In 2008, NJ Transit repainted the span in a new coat of black paint.
