HFCL Limited is an Indiantechnology company which designs, develops, manufacturestelecommunications equipment,fibre-optic cables and other related electronics.[6][7]

The company is based inGurugram and listed on both theBombay Stock Exchange (BSE)[8] and theNational Stock Exchange (NSE).[9] It serves various industries, such astelecommunications,security andrailways,textiles,Cable fibre.[10]

History

In 1987, Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited was co-founded by Mahendra Nahata, Deepak Malhotra and Vinay Maloo. In May 1987, the company was incorporated as public limited company in the state ofHimachal Pradesh.[11]

The company set up manufacturing facilities in India for optical fibre cables, optical transport, power electronics and broadband equipment, and provided turnkey solutions to theGovernment of India's undertakings and private sector players across the world.[citation needed]. It has ties withC-DOT, C-DOT has agreed to transfer its technology to HFCL.[12]

In 1995, company's85,000crore ($25 billion) bid for basic services license in India created the momentum for telecom industry in the country.[13]

In 2000,Australian businessmanKerry Packer known for his contribution to the sport ofcricket, invested in the company and took 10% stake.[14]

CPH and HFCL set up twojoint venture firms, one for software products and services and other forB2B e-commerce.[14][5]

In 2018, HFCL launched its optical fibre manufacturing unit inHyderabad.[15][16]

HFCL has its headquarters inGurugram and production plants inSolan (Himachal Pradesh),Chennai (Tamil Nadu) andGoa. The company's regional offices are located in Indian states ofPunjab,Rajasthan,Uttar Pradesh,West Bengal,Orissa,Madhya Pradesh,Maharashtra,Andhra Pradesh,Bihar,Kerala,Jharkhand andUttarakhand.[17]
